5 Martin Place, Sydney office fitout – staircase install
The designer stair in the Challenger extension fit-out by Active Metal promotes a strong sense of a connected workplace.
Located in the heritage building section of Sydney’s 5 Martin Place, Challenger Group is Australia’s largest provider of annuities and is an award-winning life insurance company with a vision to provide customers financial security for retirement. Integral to Challenger Group’s workspace culture is sustainability and well-being.
As an extension level to its existing 9,000 square meters of workspace across four levels, the design by Woods Bagot was aligned with the original design intent “focused on bringing people together”. Strategic in both concept and design, the design fosters alignment to grow the capability of the organization in line with business objectives. Looking to create a forward-thinking workplace, the extended level of the workplace delicately balances collaboration and the requirement for privacy, facilitating a productive environment that builds engagement, and enables connectivity within the Challenger community.
Carefully considering client and employee experience, the language of the design detail is refined while maintaining a warm ambiance to create a welcoming greet for both staff and visitors.
The designer stair created by Active Metal provides both physical and visual connection across the business. Comprising steel construction with Australian timber cladding, the stair sits adjacent to the void, with glazed balustrades enabling a highly transparent feature that references the organisation’s objectives, and simultaneously elevating the feature to become a unique statement of organizational integration, connectivity and wellness.
