Project: Darlinghurst Workplace, Sydney

At the heart of this inner-Sydney workplace is the theme of metamorphosis; from brick warehouse in the 1920s, to automotive garage and now international tech firm, this latest iteration of the impressive space is a bold statement on architectural reuse and sustainability.

Retaining the building’s exterior shell, a top story with skylights was added to flood all floors with natural light. Constructed from cross-laminated timber, the interior structure of the building is proudly on show, and interplays beautifully with the raw concrete and masonry of the original structure. The incredible “Spinner Forest” comprising 480 kinetic spinners is a vibrant centrepiece by renowned American artist Nick Cave.
