Fit out: QLD Tafe, Robina Campus

We were commissioned by SHAPE to photograph the incredible 5-storey fitout of TAFE Queensland’s new Robina Campus, recognised as Australia’s first sustainable VET campus! The campus was designed from the ground up to be sustainable in building, fitout, procurement, curriculum, operations and culture.

Over 32 weeks, SHAPE worked with EY Brisbane and AEQ Architects to bring modern design and construction practices to the project, ensuring they met TAFE Queensland’s bold sustainability targets.

The campus is the first of its kind in Australia in that it has been designed to be sustainable from the ground-up in building, fit out, procurement, curriculum, operations and culture.

More than 2000 students will pass through the doors each year to study an array of vocations including commercial cookery, hospitality, events, hair and beauty, sport and fitness, early childhood education and care and English Language studies. The building has five levels of flexible multi-purpose training spaces, teaching rooms, student areas, break out zones as well as live training facilities including a restaurant, café, hair and beauty salons, fitness centre and event venue.

The public are also able to access and use the facilities including the campus café, restaurant, hair and beauty salons, fitness centre and event venue – all of which are run by students and their teachers.

In recognition of its commitment to sustainability, the TAFE Queensland Robina campus was awarded silver in the Construction category at the recent World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics 2022 Awards of Excellence.
